I believe we all have certain traumas in life. What makes me feel bad is when we are unable to recognize it. It is essential for each one of us to understand what Trauma is. You do not need to be diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to benefit from Psychotherapy. Complex trauma is something that is usually seen originating in the formative years of a child. If you have experienced any type of traumatic event, that is affecting your ability to function- that is, to go to work or school, form relationships, or enjoy your life fully- you may want to consider therapy.

Therapy is also based on a belief in your ability to make changes in your life. Different books have different definitions, but according to me, I feel it all comes down to anything, anyone or any situation whether in the present or in the past, that is creating any disturbance or discomfort within you, is directly or indirectly related to your trauma. Trauma is neither a situation nor a person. Trauma is a response to an unbearable or an unpleasant experience. The response is mostly associated with an unpleasant emotion. Trauma is neither big nor small. If it's creating discomfort within you, for you, it is significant enough to address. Some traumatic experiences are recognizable, some are not. But all of them create a barrier between you and your growth when not touched upon. And recognizing them, understanding them and working on them opens a path towards healing and inevitable growth.
